What does cleaning a villa's water tanks actually cover?
Most Riyadh villas run water through three links: a ground cistern fed by the mains, a pump that lifts it, and a rooftop tank that feeds the taps by gravity. A full cleaning treats the whole chain, not just the tank that is easiest to reach, because silt in the cistern is drawn up by the pump into the roof tank.
Inside each tank the work is draining, pumping silt off the floor, scrubbing walls, roof and cast corners, and rinsing until the wash water runs clear. At the edges we inspect the lid, the vent screen, the float valve and the mouth of the inlet and overflow pipes, since those points let in dust and insects and control the water level.
One part of the job never shows up in photos: reading the condition of the surfaces. Scrubbing exposes flaking internal coating, hairline cracks or heavy lime scale, and that is reported so the owner can decide between a wash alone and waterproofing or repair. Cleaning does not fix a leak, but it shows where it is.
- Ground cistern: drain, pump the floor, scrub the walls
- Rooftop tank: remove algae and stuck-on film
- Lid, vent screen and manhole edges
- Float valve, inlet mouth and overflow
- Rinse and final sanitising before refilling
A note on the pipes
Cleaning covers the tanks and their direct fittings. Pipes inside the walls are flushed by fresh water once the taps are opened after refilling, and replacing corroded pipework is a separate plumbing job.
